Road Desain System

Road Desain System adalah suatu sistim perencanaa teknis jalan dengan menggunakan komputer yang pada mulanya dikembangkan oleh Central Design Office-BIPRAN pada tahun 1983. Kemudian seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi dan perkembangan kebutuhan dilapangan , maka RDS telah dimodikasi disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan. RDS menggunakan cara-cara yang telah disederhanakan  sejak tahapan pengumpulan data lapangan hingga penyiapan dokumen tender.
 

Beberapa prinsip utama dari RDS antara lain :

• Penyeragaman dalam metoda pengambilan data lapangan dan metode perencanaan untuk seluruh Indonesia , sehingga memudahkan dan mempercepat pemantauan (monitoring)
• Koordinasi pekerjaan lebih mudah, sehingga seluruh pekerjaan dapat diselesaikan sesuai dengan waktu yang telah ditetapkan dan dikerjakan sesuai dengan metoda yang ditetapkan.
• Penyeragaman dokumen kontrak , sehingga memudahkan untuk mengadakan penyesuaian-penyesuaian bila terdapat perubahan kebijaksanaan dari Pemerintah.
• Diberikannya kewenangan kepada Pimpro untuk mengadakan perubahan-perubahan pekerjaan dilapangan (change Order), terutama “minor pay item”.
• Seluruh kegiatan Perencanaan sampai dengan tahap FHO dapat disimpan dalam satu “file perencanaan”
• Mempermudah perencana dalam mengerjakan beberapa perencanaan konstruksi perkerasan jalan, ( dapat mendisain dalam beberapa alternatif disain dalam waktu yang bersamaan.)

RDS merupakan suatu paket program yang , terdiri dari beberapa sub-paket program yaitu :

• RDSESA yaitu sub-paket program untuk perhitungan beban lalu lintas pada suatu ruas jalan dalam suatu umur rencana tertentu.
• RDSSORT yaitu sub-paket program yang digunakan untuk menganalisa data lapangan sebelum digunakan dalam perencanaan (disian),
• RDS DISAIN merupakan program utama , yaitu untuk perhitungan perencanaan teknis konstruksi jalan dengan menggunakan hasil dari analisa RDSESA,RDSSORT, dan data tambahan lainnya .  Didalam paket program ini termuat semua kriteria disain yang ditentukan oleh Bina Marga  ( biasanya merupakan persetujuan antara Bina Marga dengan pihak pemberi bantuan)
• RDSBID , Yaitu sub paket program untuk mencetak Bis Schedule dan Engineering Estimate.
• SUMMARY , Yaitu sub paket program untuk membuat summary . Khusus sub paket ini dibuat secara otomatis (disave secara otomatis) tetapi penamaan file tergantung kebutuhan ( dibuat oleh User , contoh sum1.xls) dan bila ingin melihat hasil summarynya , harus memanggil secara manual file summary (contoh sum1.xls dipanggil dengan memilih File, Open dst )
